Blue Monday 2019

The third Monday in January is known as #BlueMonday, supposedly the most depressing day of the year. We think this is absurd, as any day can be a challenge for someone living with mental illness. We want to brighten up #BlueMonday and every day.

For 21 January 2019 we have produced materials you can download from this page to encourage people to wear colourful clothing and do something to brighten up someone else’s day, and to make a donation to Mental Health UK to help us be there every day for people who need our help.

You can donate £3 by texting JANU21 £3 to 70070

Every donation helps Mental Health UK support more people through our services and support groups. Just £3 could pay for refreshments at a support group to welcome a new member to their first meeting.

If you’re looking for ways to brighten up someone’s day:

  • Text a friend you’ve not spoke to in a while
  • Watch a film together
  • Make time to chat over a cuppa
  • Cook a meal together
  • Let them know that you are there for them

This year we are offering 2 posters for #BlueMonday. As well as a poster promoting the day itself, we have created a customisable poster to help companies promote the wellbeing support they offer to their employees round the year. Download your copies below.
