The Cothrom Centre – creating a safe space for service users and staff
Location: Fort William, Scotland
The Cothrom Centre near Fort William offers a welcoming environment for people experiencing mental ill health to access support from our trained and professional staff. It offers a friendly, safe, informal, relaxed and supportive environment, where people can participate in groups and activities which support their mental health and encourage people to get more involved in their community. Outreach services are also run from these centres, providing 1:1 support to people in their own homes or out in the community.
The centre is a busy place, used by a mixture of service users, staff and volunteers, and the doors are back open and ready to welcome people back. The funds will be used to buy air purifiers – especially important to ensure people feel safe when they are in the centre. Other equipment will also be purchased – new chairs that are easy to clean, improving sanitation and hygiene. This will all contribute enormously to create a safe and more pleasant environment for staff, volunteers and service users returning to the centre.
