The Cardiff Half is the UK’s second largest half marathon, attracting more than 27,500 runners and 50,000 spectators to the city. The event is known for its fantastic atmosphere and tremendous support of the residents and businesses of Cardiff.

From the elite field – which attracts some of the world’s top runners – to the club athletes and charity fun runners, the race has something for everyone. The route takes runners past the capital’s most iconic landmarks with beautiful scenery and historic buildings. The mostly flat and fast course makes it ideal for beginners as well as elites.

FAQs

What will I receive before the race?

You will be sent a race pack by post by the Cardiff Half Organisers. This pack will include important race information, race number and timing chip. It will arrive within 7 days of the event at the latest. If it does not, email [email protected] on the Friday of race weekend and a replacement pack will be arranged for collection at the race. The organisers are unable to allocate replacements until this date, so please wait until then before making contact, to allow the maximum amount of time for your pack to arrive. Rest assured, if you have a confirmation email and you contact them on the Friday before the event you will be able to participate.

As detailed in the terms and conditions of entry, the Cardiff University Cardiff Half Marathon is a running race in which participants should make best efforts to complete the course within a 4 hour 30 minute cut-off point. In order to safely get the city moving again and protect all participants, after this time all roads will be reopened and throughout the race a sweep bus will collect those at the back of the race unable to keep up with the allotted 20 minute a mile pace. We encourage everyone to run as much as possible in order to avoid the cut-off time.

Where is the race start, finish and event village?

The race starts outside Cardiff Castle on Castle Street from 10am. The race will finish on King Edward VII Avenue. The event village is at City Hall Lawn outside Cardiff’s City Hall.

Can I get a photograph of myself running the race?

Yes there will be photographers around the course although we cannot guarantee that you will be captured with so many participants out on the course. Their pictures will be available to purchase at: www.marathon-photos.com

The positive impact the group has had on me is huge. I don’t feel so isolated any more. If the support had not been available I would still be facing depression and loneliness, unable to look after myself and over-thinking things.
