Since Covid-19 has struck, our very own Step by Step has had to undergo a revamp.

You can still get involved and challenge yourself to a distance or number of daily steps to achieve during a month of lockdown. All you need to do is set up your fundraising page on JustGiving, upload a photo of yourself, and write on your fundraising page what you have challenged yourself to do. Simple!

The money you raise will go towards helping those that need it most.

Want to fundraise for Mental Health UK but not sure where to start? Step by Step is a fundraising event that you can organise yourself. It’s a fantastic opportunity to bring people together to go for a walk and talk about mental health, all while raising valuable funds for our work.

Why Step by Step?

Talking about our own experiences of mental health is incredibly important, but it can be difficult to get started. It’s much easier to start a conversation about mental health when walking next to someone rather than sat face to face. Being outdoors and light exercise are also great for our wellbeing.

I decided to participate as the rate in young people taking their own lives has risen in England and Wales by over 60% in the last 8 years. I had a young family friend who passed away so wanted to make sure I could do something to support the mental health cause and raise awareness. It is so important that charities can continue their life saving and crucial work.

    Our support groups can be a lifeline for those experiencing mental health problems. Your help allows us to open more groups, reaching more people who may be feeling isolated and need someone to talk to.


    Providing practical advice to help people better understand and manage their mental health. Receiving a mental health diagnosis can be scary, but with clear and simple guidance it can be a little bit easier.


    Creating easy-to-understand educational resources about mental health, the signs and signals of poor mental health and where to seek help if you, or someone you know, need it.
