Door-to-door campaign FAQs
Mental Health UK is currently operating a door-to-door campaign between September to December 2023 in the North East of England, Bristol, the Midlands and Scotland.
Why are you using this method of fundraising?
By being able to talk to prospective supporters face-to-face, we have an important opportunity to raise awareness of our cause. We want to encourage people to set up a direct debit with us, so which allows us to plan for the future and continue to grow mental health services and programmes to support more people across the UK.

How will I know a fundraiser is legitimately working for Mental Health UK?
The campaign will be run by a company called Smile Fundraising Ltd. (known henceforth as ‘Smile’, www.smilefundraising.com), on behalf of Mental Health UK. Smile is registered with the Fundraising Regulator. Fundraisers will be wearing clothing and accessories that are branded as Mental Health UK and Smile.
How will my information be collected and stored?
We take great care to preserve your privacy and safeguard any personal details you provide to us. Smile’s fundraisers will record your information on a tablet during your conversation, which will automatically save onto their database. Smile will pass on your data to us through a secure file transfer portal and we will then upload it to our database for safekeeping. Smile will only have access to your data for a limited time after the campaign has ended, to which they will subsequently delete it. All processes are in line with our privacy policy.
