Step by Step aims to get people walking and talking about mental health and help reduce the stigma attached to mental health problems. One in four of us experience poor mental health every year- by taking part in Step by Step, you will be helping Mental Health UK empower more people to understand and manage their mental health.

We want to help you to find the wow in walking again and to offer something that is good for your wellbeing.

To get involved with this you just need to…

  1. Choose a date (Mental Health Awareness Week is coming up on May 10th).
  2. Choose an achievable (but challenging) distance for you (and your team mates) to reach on a certain date.
  3. Register and set up your fundraising pages individually and create a team page to link all of the team pages together.
  4. Get sponsored.
  5. Go the distance! Raise £100 or more and receive a medal.

Want to fundraise for Mental Health UK but not sure where to start? Step by Step is a fundraising event that you can organise yourself. It’s a fantastic opportunity to go for a walk, keep in touch with a friend, neighbour or family member and give a boost to your mental health, all while raising valuable funds for our work.

I decided to participate as the rate in young people taking their own lives has risen in England and Wales by over 60% in the last 8 years. I had a young family friend who passed away so wanted to make sure I could do something to support the mental health cause and raise awareness. It is so important that charities can continue their life saving and crucial work.

The positive impact the group has had on me is huge. I don’t feel so isolated any more. If the support had not been available I would still be facing depression and loneliness, unable to look after myself and over-thinking things.
