Vishal’s story
Vishal started accessing Into Work when he was experiencing unemployment, low mood and poor self-esteem. He has now built up his confidence and feels more in control of his future.
"I’ve learnt that seeking support is a good thing. It is a form of caring for yourself – something you should be proud of doing."
I accessed support from Into Work through a jobs fair in Harrow. At the time, I was unemployed and struggling to maintain consistency in applying for work. I found that my self-esteem regarding employability was also getting in the way. My mood was generally low, but I thankfully had a good social life and remained somewhat active through sport.
Into Work supported me through weekly calls and interview guidance. They also held a Jobs Club, which helped me to connect with fellow job seekers, and would regularly send me potential job opportunities.

I’m really glad to have a very kind and understanding Employment Advisor from Into Work, who is able to meet where I’m at on any given week. Their work ethic and persistence is what really stood out to me. It has inspired me to want the same for myself.
I remember when I was in a particularly bad lull due to a series of rejections from jobs I applied for. My Employment Advisor continued being their consistent and non-judgemental self. That kind of reliability is the motivation I needed to get back to the job search.
I continue to receive support from my Employment Advisor, meaning I have more opportunities to keep pushing myself and less bad days in general. I’ve also done courses and training to improve my employability, like a Creative Pathway project, where I learnt about production, media, and the creative industry. I really enjoyed this training and the skills I developed.
I feel as though I’m in a good headspace and excited about the future. I have a better sense of autonomy in my life now. I’m more proactive than before I accessed Into Work.
I’ve learnt that seeking support is a good thing. It is a form of caring for yourself – something you should be proud of doing.
