Mental Health UK and ITN Productions Industry News launch co-production ‘Play Your Part’

Mental Health UK has partnered with ITN Productions Industry News to produce Play Your Part, a digital news-style programme presented by Dr Sian Williams, highlighting how everyone has a role to play when it comes to the future of mental health.

One in four of us will be affected by mental health issues at some point in our lives and there are certain factors can affect our mental health, such as accommodation, our social connections, employment, physical health and finances.

Anchored by Dr Sian Williams from ITN’s London Studio, Play Your Part will aim to encourage people to consider the unique contribution they could make in striving for better mental health across society through inspiring case study led films and interviews with experts in this field.

The programme will raise awareness around the cost-of-living crisis and the affect this has on mental health, highlight the positive stories surrounding the recovery phase of the pandemic and showcase the changing conversations around mental health in the workplace. Showing how prevention is key, the programme will also explore the importance of educating the digital first generation at an early age, provide information to empower individuals to understand and manage their own mental health and will highlight the role of the NHS and local community initiatives.

Launching on World Mental Health Day, Monday 10 October 2022, Play Your Part will combine key sector interviews, informative news items and sponsored editorial profiles from leading organisations. The programme will form part of an extensive communications campaign featuring Mental Health UK and professional partners.

Don’t forget to tune into our YouTube channel at 1pm on Monday 10th October to watch the premiere.

“All kinds of turbulence in our lives can impact our mental health, as recent years have proved with the optimism around pandemic recovery now dampened by the new tests we’re set to face through the cost-of-living crisis. These are difficult times for many, but it’s also inspired a new conversation about how we understand and manage our wellbeing, empowering people to make positive changes in their lives. Play Your Part will take a fresh look at what we can all do to support our mental health, both individually and as an active part of our community, and we’re delighted to be partnering with ITN Productions once again to explore these vital issues.”

– Brian Dow, Chief Executive, Mental Health UK

“We are delighted to be working once again in partnership with Mental Health UK to make a Play Your Part. Building on the success of last year’s programme, we hope to continue to raise awareness of the support available for those affected by mental illness by showing the positive stories helping individuals lead a better quality of life.”

– Nina Harrison-Bell, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions
