What is social anxiety disorder?

Anxiety is a common feeling of worry or fear that many of us experience at some point in our lives when faced with something causing concern or stress. When you’re unable to let go of anxiety, it may be a sign of an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is a symptom of several conditions such as panic disorder, generalised anxiety disorder (GAD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), and phobias.

Social anxiety disorder can be a debilitating condition, leading to other mental health conditions such as agoraphobia and depression. Social anxiety disorder often interferes with someone’s life such as work, friendships, self-esteem, relationships, and school.
