Around the World in 31 Days: SAS take on a virtual challenge to raise money for Mental Health UK

Our valued partners at the leading analytics organisation, SAS, showed their dedication to improving the lives of those affected by mental health problems last autumn. Following their success in the immense 300-mile cycle ride from London to Amsterdam they did in 2019, SAS employees decided that no pandemic will knock them down and took on a new challenge – Around the World in 31 Days.

For this challenge, a group of 144 SAS employees undertook different types of physical exercise, from running to cycling or yoga, which together covered the distance of a whole lap of the globe! There were 12 teams, all of which showed fundraising finesse and community spirit, raising an amazing £4,000 for Mental Health UK. The competition element made for a really enjoyable and fulfilling activity for everyone, bringing colleagues together (virtually!) at a time of prolonged isolation.

Participants posted photos and shared personal stories throughout the challenge which meant the whole company got involved and built stronger connections. This was a great way of keeping mind and body fit while also raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.

We are so grateful to SAS for raising funds to increase understanding around mental health and provide care for those affected by mental illness, all the while promoting the positive link between exercise and good mental health.

Do you feel inspired? Why not take on our Move it for Mental Health challenge and start the new year fit and healthy!
